OUR MISSION

Our Mission


Methuen Youth Soccer Association was established in 1986. We are a 100% volunteer run organization bringing the World's game to Methuen, MA.

Methuen Youth Soccer Association is a member of Essex County Youth Soccer Association and Massachusetts Youth Soccer.

Adopted from US Youth Soccer's mission statement:

Methuen Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) is a non-profit and educational organization whose mission is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of the youth of Methuen and its surrounding cities/towns through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition.

Who we are:

Methuen Youth Soccer Association was established in 1986. Since our humble beginnings, we have grown to become an organization that includes approximately 1,000 children annually between our Classic and Town programs. Our Classic League welcomes ages 4-5 (U6) and 6-7 (U8). The Town League consists of children 8-18. Our program is recreational and instructional offering a fun, safe environment for all children including Methuen surrounding cities/towns.

MYSA follows the rules and guidelines from US Youth Soccer, Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MAYS), and Essex County Youth Soccer (ECY) and our own Bylaws - see MYSA Bylaws page.

MYSA is a 100% volunteer run organization including the Board of Directors, coaches, and parent volunteers. The four Officers - President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are elected by its members every year for a two-year term on a rotating schedule at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Other members of the Board are appointed and voted in by the Board - see the Contact Us page for a list of all positions.

Vision:

MYSA takes pride in it's motto "Community Through Soccer". We continue to strengthen our community involvement through collaboration with other youth sports organizations, the Schools administration, the City departments including Parks and Recreation, DPW, Police, Fire, Challenger Sports, the New England Revolution, and any other appropriate groups to offer the best programs we can to our members. We offer graduating seniors college scholarships and award hardships to families struggling financially.
